Ballroom dance can be challenging to master, but follow these tips to fast track your improvement.

- Take medal classes
- Take as many private dance lessons as you can afford
- Find a dance partner
- Compete in Dancesport
- Listen to what your teacher asks
- Challenge yourself
- Social dance
- Attend technique classes
- Don’t argue with your teacher
- Read the technique books
- Become physically fit
- Take up pilates
- Do a dance teachers course
- Make sure you always have impeccable personal grooming.
- Don’t fight with your dance partner
- Don’t give up
- Accept imperfections as you are learning
- Stop comparing yourself to others
- Compare yourself to yourself – yesterday.
- Become more flexible
- Keep persevering
- Join a stretch class
- Treat your partners with kindness
- Turn up on time
- Eat a healthy diet
- Work 99% on yourself and 1% on your partner
- Have a lesson from a tough teacher and ask them how you feel to dance with
- Be patient with progress
- Attend dancing competitions
- Get inspiration from other styles of dance – ballet, flamenco
- Never pull or push your partner
- Never fight with your partner – verbally or physically.
- Master foot positions first.
- Get a stronger core
- Dance 3 – 4 time per week – 2 -3 hours each time
- Go online and watch overseas champions
- Perfect your rise and fall.
- Rather than earn yet another dance – learn to dance the ones you know more beautifully
- Stick with your coach until they tell you you are ready to move on
